Having an iPhone obviously has implications for my virtual life, too. As most iPhone users are geeks like me, it was just the question of few days to have the right tools available to make a WordPress blog iPhone compatible…
So, with this post – sent through the mobile admin interface – I am happy to announce that you can now visit my blog with your iPhone as well and view it in a specially adjusted theme (I wonder if anybody apart from myself will actually do so).

Here we go! The version number above is meant to be trendy, albeit being a bit confusing, since this is more or less the fourth version of my personal website. The first was entirely hand-coded HTML (table-based layout, of course) featuring a blue theme. I replaced that one in the summer of 2003 with a completely new CSS design with red pepper being the main optical motive (the reason for this was the discovery that “Fehér” actually denominates a Hungarian red pepper type).
This one already included, as one of five sections, a weblog, powered by Blogger (not yet incorporated by Google at that time). In late 2005, I had enough from the limited functionality of Blogger and switched to WordPress (version 1.5 if I am not much mistake). This was still only functioning as one section of the site, so I adjusted the template to fit and did quite some hacking in the source code. As a result, upgrading became more or less impossible. So finally, I decided (some time ago, I admit) that this situation is not tolerable, if only from a security point of view. But I also decided to go for a full relaunch when upgrading. So that is the – preliminary – result you can see now.
I welcome your comments.

I guess it’s not worth pointing out that I have paid little attention to my poor blog during the last couple of months. In fact, I’ve done a little bit more than one would assume seeing the huge gap in recent entries (which I still intend to fill with a couple of nice photos from this period): I have been thinking of it. Fine, but isn’t this a bit cheap, could you ask, isn’t it action which makes the difference between good intentions and good results? Ok, so I will share my thoughts that gathered throughout these months as a kind of first step to prospective action:

Today, I finally took some time to convert the posts that have not fully survived the transfer to WordPress. As far as I see, I managed to correct all the problems (bad image links, incorrect code) back to Hungary’s accession to the European Union.
It remains to be seen, when I will be able to convert earlier entries as well. Further plans also include the creation of some kind of photo album that would make it easier for me to upload photos without having to resize them manually and write very long explanations. In fact, tons of pictures still wait for being published.
Hard work, quick reporgramming of the whole site in PHP (twice, second time to fit in with WordPress) and some bugs left uncorrected (might especially affect some images in the archives) – but it’s DONE! I have succesfully moved my entire blog (almost: to make it less complicated, I had to omitt the few comments I had) to WordPress.
And it seems to work. Please notify me, if not.
I decided to say good-bye to Blogger (fine as it was for over 2 years) and replace it with WordPress, which will run on the same server as the whole site itself. I hope this will make updating easier.
I plan to manage this move in the upcoming days. In the meanwhile, regrettably, the archives will not be accessible. I welcome your patience.
For over a month now, I have been unable to use Blogger for constant problems with publishing via FTP. I hope, this will change soon and I will be able to keep this page updated regularly again.
