It remains to be seen if this time I manage to realise that dream – but fact is that I am registered for the Bonn Marathon, this time for the full 42,195 km. And I hope I started my training in time and will able to stick to the plan, which includes running about 4 times per week. What I’ve done so far:
- Saturday, 23 January: 5,5 km in 37 minutes (that’s my best guess since I managed to stop the watch after the first half round)
- Saturday, 30 January: 11 km in 1h 5′ (average pulse: 161).
- Sunday, 1 February: 11 km in 1h 15′ (average pulse: 147).
Both yesterday and today seem to have been close to the maximum that was possible. At least, my right knee told me so. Yesterday only on the last few kilometres, today almost from beginning on. I also realised that it was not a good idea to leave the gloves at home, even if my hands used to start sweating in them. The only advantage was that I could see the watch and control my pulse continouosly thus keeping myself from being too fast.
The biggest challange that lies ahead will be clearly to stick to the training timetable. And to get enough sleep.
