Finally managed to visit and explore the Ethernal City. Apart from checking out all the obligatory sights – Colosseum (that was not difficult, my hotel was just next to it), Forum Romanum, Palatine, St. Maria Maggiore, Traian’s Coloumn, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Stairs, Via della Corso, Piazza Navone, Campo del Fiori, St. Peter’s Square, and many more – I also had the chance to bargain over an Indian wall carpet at the Flea Market at Porta Portese, be taken around on a Vespa, and consuming incredible amounts of pizza, pasta, wine, coffee and ice cream…

In addition to that I also managed to do some training for next weekends’ half marathon in Bonn. The above map shows roughly the course I’ve done starting from the hotel, circling in some parks, surrounding the Baths of Caracalla, passing by Circus Maximus and the Colosseum, and arriving at Nero’s Aurea Domus. According to Google Earth, it was about 11km long, for which I needed 1h11′. I hope, that was enough.

Definitely enough was the sunshine for my head. As it was mostly sunny on Saturday and Sunday but at times also chilly, I discovered rather late that I managed to get myself burned, for the first time this year. Congratulation.

Ah, and if you wonder how I managed to get there – well, thanks to a project meeting of the “Transport Research Knowledge Centre” (TRKC), a project of our company where I happen to have the honour of managing one of the Work Packages. Next stop is the Transport Research Arena in Ljubljana.
